Public Barber Salon

Booked for a cut with Lindsey and I’m so happy with it! I have recently moved to S.F. and tried a few barbers but Lindsey at public was the best one so far by far. I asked for a lil trim around the ears but that I wanted to grow it out a bit. Many barbers seem to struggle with this and take too much off but she gave me exactly what I asked for while also making recommendations based on her experience. Will def come back as my regular - thanks Lindsey!

I just had my hair cut by Steve last night. He did a fabulous job and gave me the best shag(ish) cut. I asked him to give me lots of layers and then do what he thought was best in front. He really did a great job around my face and took into account my face shape, hair texture and part. Even though I have super thick hair, he took his time and didn’t rush me out. It’s a great cut! The shop itself is super cool. The owner has outfitted the walls with bookcases to the ceiling that were built by a local wood worker. They are totally packed with antique books. It gives off a warm, welcoming vibe. The salon only uses natural products and nothing with plastics or toxins in it. Extra bonus, they smell great! Overall it was an A+ experience!

Great atmosphere, great stylist. I got a high fade and beard trim and it was great. They also shampooed my hair after which made me feel clean post haircut. The 80s Pepsi machine is also a nice touch.

I have been going to Spencer for haircuts, and they’re simply amazing! Spencer is incredibly skilled, pays attention to detail, and always ensures I leave feeling great about my haircut. The salon itself is cozy, inviting, and has such a friendly vibe - it makes the whole experience even better. The location in North Beach adds to the charm; it’s a lovely Italian neighborhood with fantastic food options and a beautiful park nearby, making it easy to turn a haircut into a relaxing outing. Highly recommend Spencer and this salon to anyone looking for quality cuts and a welcoming atmosphere!

Since I moved to SF, I have had my hair cut and colored by both Spencer and Ruby. I’ve been super happy every time. My hair is super healthy and looking great. I always leave feeling pretty. Thank you Spencer and Ruby.

I booked an appointment last minute the day before my haircut. I had the option of selecting a particular stylist or anyone available. Since it was short notice, I had to opt for anyone and was assigned to Leslie. Overall great experience, from checking in at the front desk to getting my haircut from Leslie in a timely manner. I was very satisfied with the results and recommend this establishment. Great professionalism and positive vibes all around.

Danielle was so lovely it was my first time getting a cut here and she gave me wonderful recommendations based on what she thought would suit my hair. It is a little on the pricey end but I loved the service and the care she put into my hair. Will mention that wait times might be long even if you have an appointment so budget 2 hours

Amanda is great! She does my son's hair and did mine for the first time and I am very pleased with both haircuts. She's also lovely to talk with.
